The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) activated the State Emergency Response Plans in response to distress calls, ensuring a prompt and coordinated effort to contain the fire.
Justice Rahman Oshodi, who delivered the 324-page judgment, also sentenced the embattled bishop to three years’ imprisonment for sexually assaulting another member of the church, aged 19.
“We will adopt a holistic approach that combines regulatory measures with other strategies to achieve more comprehensive disaster mitigation and recovery outcomes.” He said
Residents lamented that the construction of the road and the overhead bridge, which were said to have begun about three years ago, had become criminal hideouts, subjecting them to harassment and theft during gridlock.
Justice Ayokunle Faji granted the orders after listening to the submissions of the NDLEA’s counsel, Abu Ibrahim.
The spokesperson said the crisis was caused by the alleged killing of a 13-year-old boy identified as Ekene.
The prosecutor said the offenses contravened Sections 134 and 170 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The NEMA boss said no fewer than 665 people died while 3,181 persons were injured across the country during the 2022 flood.
Also, the National Emergency Management Agency through its Lagos Territorial Office confirmed the fire.
“When they discover that we have our security before they will come, they will take caution. I am not saying a single word to be hidden. I am not hiding my words, let my words go viral. Igbo must get their right and get a stand in Lagos State,” he added.
The group also condemned the various onslaught of attacks on non-indigenous residents in Lagos State and other parts of Yoruba Land, while calling on the threat mongers to immediately desist from such a dastardly action.
He gave the warning in a statement released in the wake of the lingering attacks on the Igbos in Lagos affirming that the people would no longer be calm while the senseless killings persist.
He further stated that no one eats his cake and has it while warning those orchestrating the crisis against the Igbo people to remember that this is not 1997.
“The project would transform the entire Igbo Land into a mega-hub bigger than the United Arab Emirates Dubai, and other great countries in the world.” He said.
“I’m not surprised by their decision not to obey a judgment that everyone knows is justifiable. Since they’ve chosen this infamous path, I will equally file a cross-appeal against the N5 Million damages and ask the Court of Appeal to increase it significantly.” Effiong said.
In an open letter published this afternoon, he released telephone numbers through which residents can report offending banks.
He, further, revealed how Oreoluwa was to proceed for her Master’s degree programme abroad after the NYSC programme.
