“Because, if Onitsha doesn’t function, then, Anambra doesn’t work. It is the biggest commercial city in the country and the largest market in West Africa. If Onitsha doesn’t work, Southeast doesn’t work.”
He said.
The relocation follows the plan of the state government to restore the area designated as an industrial area to its original purpose.
“The gang is alleged to be responsible for several attacks and the dispossession of traders and unsuspecting victims of their personal belongings at the Main Market, Onitsha.”
Traders at the Onitsha Main Market have protested to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over the development saying that the newly redesigned currency is being given to people who pay extra.
