“Onitsha Will Rise to Fall No More”—Soludo Delares

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo CFR, has restated his commitment towards comprehensive regeneration of the state through his mega Sustainable Development Projects ongoing throughout the 21 Local Government Areas.

According to Soludo TV, the Governor asserted the commissioning of 26 Kilometers of Roads in Amansea, Ntokor, Ndiukwuenu, Awa, and Ufuma in Orumba North L.G.A.

Describing Onitsha as the commercial city in the country with the biggest market in West Africa, the Governor expressed optimism that Onitsha will soon rise to fall no more.

The governor said:
“We are now embarking on the most ambitious water scheme. It is Awka, Onitsha Nnewi, Ekwuluobia, and Otuocha, among others. We are handling a comprehensive water scheme for the entire state. As we speak, we are test-running at Awka, Onitsha, Okpoko, Nnewi, Umunze, and so on. Anambra will once again drink pipe-born water. We are regenerating the place.

“Onitsha is bouncing back. The traders were telling us that for the first time in many years, people from all over the country and West Africa are coming back to shop again in Onitsha. Agbero (louts are going), and Onitsha is rising and we will soon be able to proclaim that Onitsha has risen to fall no more.

“Because, if Onitsha doesn’t function, then, Anambra doesn’t work. It is the biggest commercial city in the country and the largest market in West Africa. If Onitsha doesn’t work, Southeast doesn’t work.

“That’s why we are deliberately and intentionally upscaling and upgrading Onitsha. Onitsha will work. Go to Ochanja Roundabout today. Two years ago it was a refuse dump where I stood and covered my nose to address the people. But today, it is a water fountain. That is the symbol and signature thing to signal our urban regeneration. The dry bone shall rise again.

“Now, Ufuma, where we are. I plied here some years ago and I know what it was. But today, as we came down through this road was as if you were driving through some wonderland.

“I will go and come back to Ufuma for more good work is underway, because the solution is Here.”

It is significant to emphasize that the Governor has been doing all this without borrowing a dime. Secondly, the Governor hasn’t collected any salary since he assumed office. Yet, he is up and doing in transforming the entire state.

Several dignitaries including the Chief of Staff, Chief Protocol Officer, Hon Chinedu Obidigwe MHR, Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, Deputy Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Pius Chuma Okoye, Members of Anambra State House of Assembly, and Members of Anambra State Executive Council, among others.
