No fewer than three people were killed on Wednesday when traders took to the streets to protest the sealing of their shops by the state government for not opening for business on Monday.
“I campaigned against the incessant sit-at-home in Southeast, some said I am anti-Igbo. Time shall tell.” He said.
The governor has earlier issued a statement warning the residents not to heed the order any longer.

The group further warned that the public should always be aware of the IPOB’s earlier suspension of the lingering Sit-at-home even though a lot of people still stay at home in solidarity with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is still illegally detained in the custody of the DSS.
The directive is coming in the wake of Tuesday’s tweet by Simon Ekpa, a self-acclaimed disciple of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, asking indigenes of South-East Nigeria who are resident in Lagos, to observe a sit-at-home exercise over an alleged attack on them.
IPOB further warned the public to be wary of any group claiming that they are IPOB issuing and enforcing reckless sit-at homes in the East.
“It’s a day that will forever live in infamy. I’m very upset; my people are very upset.” He said.
There was confusion in some popular markets, including Ahia-ofu, Kpirikpiri, the International market, and the Ebebe market in Abakaliki.
