Breaking: Tinubu Appoints New Executive Director for Rural Electrification

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Umar Abdullahi Umar as the new Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Agency.

Umar is the son of ex-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State and presently serves as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was officially named in a press release issued by Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s media and publicity advisor, on Thursday.

The appointment came following the removal of Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad and three other executive members from their positions within the agency.

The presidency has not only initiated an indefinite suspension for the implicated officials but also directed a thorough investigation into the misallocation of funds exceeding N1.2 billion over the last two years—a portion of which has already been reclaimed by anti-corruption bodies.

The newly appointed team is tasked with not just carrying forward the agency’s mandate but also embodying the ethos of transparent governance that President Tinubu champions.
