As Anambra State gears up for its 2025 gubernatorial elections, six distinguished candidates have thrown their hats into the ring to succeed the current Governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
Each brings a unique blend of experience, philanthropy, and visionary plans for the state. Here’s a snapshot of who they are and what they stand for:
Paul Chukwuma, 46, is a multi-faceted Nigerian entrepreneur hailing from Umueri in Anambra East LGA. His academic journey boasts first-class degrees in Philosophy and Law, along with a distinction in LLM specializing in Intellectual Property and IT Law.
He is the visionary behind Olivia University in Burundi and Olivia Hotels among other ventures. A committed philanthropist, Paul has contributed 100 million Naira to his alma mater and funded WAEC and JAMB examination fees for over 1,500 local students.
𝗩𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝘇𝗶𝗴𝗯𝗼 (𝟱𝟯) is a business executive and former President of Transcorp. He is from Amesi, Aguata LGA. Val is a first-class accountant with over 17 years of banking experience.
He is the Chief Promoter of Unusual Praise and the Foremost promoter of Freestyle football in Nigeria. Val is the Founder of Chineto Ozigbo Foundation, which provides scholarships and business support.
𝗜𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗶 𝗨𝗯𝗮𝗵 (𝟱𝟮) is a renowned businessman and 2-term Senator. He is the founder of Capital Oil and Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club. Ubah started as an auto spare parts dealer and later expanded into the tire export business. He recently obtained a law degree from Baze University.
𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗷𝗶𝗮𝗸𝗮 (𝟰𝟲) is a Harvard-trained entrepreneur and founder of Auldon Toys. He is a native of Azia, Ihiala LGA. Paul has a degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos, an MBA from Lagos Business School, and a DBA from the University of Reading, UK. He created the Unity Dolls, which teach African cultural heritage to children.
Bart Nwibe, 63, an oil and gas industry leader and founder of SEGOF Energy Services, comes from a strong engineering background with a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering and further studies at Georgetown University. Through the Ugo Igbo-Ukwu Foundation, he has supported the education of over 20,000 students.
Tony Nwoye, 49, a medical doctor and political stalwart from Nsugbe, Anambra-East LGA, has served extensively in political roles, including being the youngest PDP state chairman at 30. His political journey includes terms as a House of Reps member and a ranking senator.
