Super Falcons’ Chiamaka Nnadozie Clinches Top Goalkeeper Award in French League

Chiamaka Nnadozie has been named the Best Goalkeeper of the French D1 Arkema, marking her as the first African and Nigerian to win this prestigious award.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper has been instrumental in her team’s successes, displaying exceptional skill throughout the season, especially noted for her penalty saves.

Competing against top international goalkeepers like Christiane Endler of Olympic Lyon and Katarzyna Kiedrzynek from Paris SG, Nnadozie stood out, securing the accolade through her outstanding performances, particularly in the Champions League. Pierre Ferracci, the president of her club, Paris FC, praised her contributions and expressed hopes of retaining her despite interest from other clubs.

Nnadozie’s remarkable ability to save penalties was highlighted this season, saving seven penalties, the highest in Europe. Her club, Paris FC, is currently third in the league standings. Following the announcement, Nnadozie shared her joy and gratitude on social media, thanking those who supported her journey, including her coaches, teammates, and fans.

Her stellar performance this season also earned her the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2023, further solidifying her status as one of the world’s elite goalkeepers.
