UPDATES: Lagos Prophet Drowns at Beach Outing

A Lagos State-based fun-seeking prophet identified as Oriyomi Remilekun has reportedly drowned during a Valentine’s Day celebration beach hangout in the Ajah area of the state.

The day meant for love and companionship took a heartbreaking twist when the cleric, after leading a group of 16 youths from his Gbagada parish for a festive gathering, went missing under mysterious circumstances.

The celebration, which extended into the evening of Saturday, February 17, ended in confusion as Oriyomi’s absence became apparent. Despite efforts by his colleagues to locate him, the night concluded without any sign of the missing prophet. According to a source quoted by PUNCH, even Oriyomi’s girlfriend was unaware of his whereabouts, noting that he had left his phone with her before vanishing with a promise to return.

The search continued into the next day, with the group even involving the local police, but to no avail. It wasn’t until Monday that the grim discovery was made; Oriyomi’s body was found washed ashore at a nearby beach, confirming the worst fears of all involved.

The incident has sparked a mix of grief and questions, with some pondering the decisions made during the search efforts. A management member of Avista Beach remarked on the peculiarity of the group not raising an alarm immediately after noticing Oriyomi’s disappearance.

Tributes have poured in for the late prophet, emphasizing his character and dedication to his faith. A Facebook user, Erinle Abel, remembered him as “gifted without blemish, humble in spirit and character,” expressing the profound loss felt by those who knew him.
