BREAKING: Uncertainty in Rivers as Court Decides Terrorism Charge Against Fubara’s Supporters
This came after the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the arrest of Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Fubara, and also linked him to terrorism.
This came after the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the arrest of Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Fubara, and also linked him to terrorism.
However, a resolution seemed to have been reached after Tunubu had a meeting with the warring parties on Monday.
Recall that Fubara allegedly issued a stern ultimatum to all commissioners approved by FCT minister, Emperor Nysome Wike, to resign by Friday 15th December, er or face immediate dismissal.
He also alleged that even after leaving office, Wike still had a say in government operations and how the governor was managing the affairs of the state.
“No more will it be said of Rivers State again, that one individual will come up to control Rivers State anymore. We are for Rivers and Rivers is for us. Rivers is for Rivers so Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, I am calling you out, that if you are a man with your boys come back to Rivers state again. I dare you, I am telling you, come out if you are a man.
This is a sequel to the defection of the 27 lawmakers elected under the platform of the PDP to APC.
Wike made the call while reacting to the crisis in Rivers State House of Assembly where 27 lawmakers elected under the platform of PDP defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
The lawmakers, who were elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, announced their decision during Monday’s plenary at the Rivers Assembly Complex.
Recall that the legislative arm of the state has been in serious crisis following their bid to impeach the governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
The APC candidate, who was present in the courtroom on Tuesday, wanted the court to direct INEC to declare him the winner of the March governorship election in Rivers.
“Before the gubernatorial election in Rivers State, you all said Opobo is not proper Ijaw, today you are shouting Asawana!” Wike
He further explained that though he also had some disagreements with Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, they had managed to resolve their differences and had agreed to work together.
This is as the political crisis rocking the Rivers Government takes wings of fresh dimensions despite the several efforts made by concerned citizens to resolve the problems.
“I paid for the nomination form of all those that contested the election under PDP in Rivers State, They didn’t pay N1 and we agreed”. Wike.
The move comes in response to attempts made by lawmakers in the state House of Assembly, who are loyal to Wike, to impeach Governor Fubara.
