Breaking: Rivers State Political Crisis: President Tinubu Intervenes, Issues Immediate Order Over Impeachment of Gov Fubara, Decamped Lawmakers, others

President Bola Tinubu has finally intervened in the political crisis reaping Rivers State apart, giving strict directives that should be immediately implemented by the parties involved.

This is as the political feud between the Governor Sim Fubara, and the immediate former governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Emperor Nysome Wike takes a fresh turn following an alleged order given by Fubara.

Tinubu, therefore, directed that all impeachment proceedings initiated against Governor Fubara by the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Speaker Martin to be dropped with immediate effect

Recall that Fubara allegedly issued a stern ultimatum to all commissioners approved by FCT minister, Emperor Nysome Wike, to resign by Friday 15th December, er or face immediate dismissal.
Describing the ongoing crisis as a tough time that must be handled perfectly, the governor reportedly gave them until Monday, December 18th, 2023 to resign their positions.
So far, over 10 of the Commissioners have resigned their appointments and more anticipated to follow suit if the polity hits harder.

Consequently, President Bola Tinubu has also directed Governor Sim Fubara to recognize Martin Amaewhule as Speaker and the other 26 members who defected to APC as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Tinubu also directed that their salaries be paid immediately.
