Political Crisis: Asari Dokubo, Jack-Rich Caution FCT Minister Wike, Gov. Fubara

Niger Delta former militants’ leader, Asari Dokubo, has cautioned the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike, and his political godson, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, to settle their differences and allow the Rivers State people to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Dokubo commented on the recent political crisis between the duo when he received a former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tein Jack-Rich, in his residence in Obuama, in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Both Dokubo and Jack-Rich are from Rivers State.

The Rivers governor, Fubara, had recently survived an impeachment plot by the fragmented state House of Assembly which was believed to be orchestrated by the minister and former governor, Wike, over some differences which led to a crisis between them.

President Bola Tinubu had invited the duo to the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja and waded in before some calm was achieved, which later may have been the governor to “apologise” to his godfather, Wike.

Speaking on the recent gathering Jack-Rich’s visit, Dokubo noted that the political impasse in the state was not unusual, adding that the two Rivers leaders should not continue on the “path of grudges again”

“Rivers people cannot also afford to be left behind at the federal level, and so must take advantage of Tinubu’s government, and give the president all the support he required to succeed.

“I am not a regular politician; I am just a friend of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I am not looking for appointment, but those seeking appointment made sacrifices and are looking up to me to ensure that their sacrifices are not in vain,” required.

He further explained that though he also had some disagreements with Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, they had managed to resolve their differences and had agreed to work together.

Dokubo therefore, called on Fubara and the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, to settle amicably whatever differences they had, and work together to ensure that Rivers people enjoy the dividends of democracy, both at the federal and state levels.

Speaking earlier, Jack-Rich backed Tinubu’s “timely intervention in the political crisis in the state.”

“When it comes to the issue of Rivers, we are stakeholders and our interest is for the peace, economic survival, political and economic inclusion of Rivers.

“I am appealing to the FCT minister and our governor to work out their differences. Crisis will drive away investors, and if there are no private investments, capital investments, there cannot be economic growth and our youths won’t be employed,” Jack-Rich noted.
