They stated that the decision was taken at a National Executive Council meeting of the party held in Asaba and attended by members of the National Working Committee.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Director of Communications/Spokesperson, Enugu PDP Campaign Council, Barr Nana Ogbodo.
Meanwhile, the call by the group came barely one week, after Obi came under attack over, leaked audio where he allegedly described the 2023 elections as a religious war.
No fewer than eight senators had indicated an interest in the race. They include senators Jibrin Barau (Kano Central), Sani Musa (Niger East), Orji Kalu (Abia North), and GodsWill Akpabio (Akwa-Ibom North-West ).
The cleric triggered mixed reactions when he told Nigerians what to do rather than the continuous congratulatory message to the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.

It would be recalled that a sequel to the various speculations surrounding the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, the Department of State Services DSS has said it had identified some unnamed key players planning for an interim government in the country.

This was made known by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi on Monday.
Obi said this during his appearance on Arise TV Monday morning.
“We, therefore, call on the general public to note the level of lawlessness and brazen disobedience to a lawful order of a court by an important statutory agency such as INEC, which is a well-calculated attempt to undermine and frustrate the presentation of the Petition by the Labour Party and its Presidential candidate before the tribunal in good time.
“The materials will be relevant in helping us to prepare our defense and also make comparison with the information contained in INEC’s back-end server,” he said.
Mr. Peter Obi who is challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, had accused INEC of not granting them access to materials used for the election despite a court order asking them to do so.
