Catholic Diocese of Onitsha Raises Alarm over Kidnap of Priest
Catholic Diocese of Onitsha has announced the abduction of Reverend Fr. Basil Gbuzuo by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
The incident which occurred on Wednesday, the 15th of May, 2024 along the Eke Nkpor- Obosi bypass at about 8 pm triggered palpable tensions in the area.
Rev. Fr. Basil Gbuzuo is a priest in residence at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Ogidi.
According to reports, until the time of filing this report, the abductees had yet to establish any contacts on his way about, which has further posed more challenges to the concerned citizens.
Consequently, His Grace, Most Rv. Valerian M. Okeke, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha calls on all the Christ’s faithful and men and women of goodwill to earnestly pray for the quick and safe release of the Priest, while they intensify efforts to ensure his freedom.
