Details as Nigerian Singer Portable Gets Arrested Over Unpaid Car Debt

Nigerian street music sensation Habeeb Okikiola, famously known as Portable, found himself in legal trouble once again. This time, the controversy surrounds an unpaid debt for a luxurious G-Wagon vehicle.

According to reports, Portable was apprehended by the police in the Abule Egba area of Lagos on Tuesday. The arrest came after the singer allegedly failed to settle the full payment for a G-Wagon, which he purchased for ₦27 million but for which he only paid ₦13 million.

The situation escalated when a video surfaced online showing Portable attempting to evade police by scaling a gate as officers approached him with an arrest warrant. Subsequent footage revealed a more chaotic scene, with the singer being forcefully escorted to a police vehicle while handcuffed and surrounded by several officers.

Adding to the drama, a woman who identified herself as the car dealer involved in the transaction was heard in the background of one of the videos. She expressed her frustration and claimed that Portable had threatened her when she demanded the remaining payment.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and mentioned that Portable’s legal representatives are expected to intervene. Discussions with his lawyers will determine whether the case will proceed to court.

This incident is not Portable’s first brush with the law; he was previously arrested and faced charges related to assault and theft in Ogun State in April 2023. After being remanded at the Ilaro Correctional Centre, he was released upon fulfilling his bail conditions.

As the story develops, fans and critics alike are keenly watching to see how this latest legal challenge will affect the career and public image of the popular “Zazoo Zeh” crooner.
