OPINION: ANAMBRA GUBER: A Tussle Among Who Owns The Moneybags Politicians

Elections in Nigeria are usually conducted amidst several mitigating factors. These factors are not undisputable especially when the insecurity of lives of the electorates as well as the safety of the votes cast are not uncommon. Meanwhile, various states in the country have a variety of challenges confronting free, fair and credible polls from taking their toll.

To this effect, November 6 governorship election in Anambra state is in view to many as a race among political Titans, who are willing to do anything humanly possible in order to get the seat at Agu Awka. Thus, the indications of power tussle among the seemingly power mongers rascally battling their way in candidacies of the various political parties in the state.
Consequently, party activities sequel pre-primary and post-primary elections of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, as well as in the opposition People’s Democratic Party, All Progressive Congress among other political parties vying the governorship position comes November 6, 2021, have shown a tight political battle among those who get the wherewithal to determine Who gets What, When and How in Anambra state.

Various party factions clashes over interests on the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the party primaries last month. The dissatisfied factional heads of parties have upon the aftermath of the exercise channeled their grievances to court in expectations of equity, fairness and justice. These situations in the political atmosphere of the state have created a lot of disintegration among political Loyalists.

The implications are inevitable that Ndi Anambra state would again be in a political dilemma, between those who own the moneybags and those who have the ideas and visionary road maps. If political monetization is not nipped to the mud ahead of the November 6 poll in the state, there is every sense of uncertainty among the electorates in the state.

No wonder, many electorates no longer care about who can foster good governance but who can read the expressions on their faces and relate them with the impressions of their stomach needs. The failure of the people to shun money politics and sentiments have altered the atmosphere of peace, equity and credibility of elections in the country.
Nonetheless, the growing dichotomies as well as contradistinction among the candidates of political parties’ primaries towards the November 6 governorship election in Anambra state have shown the desperation of politicians to get power by hook or crook, regardless of what Ndi Anambra state want at the moment. The role of some political demagogues flexing power financially indicates the spirit of untrue patriotic citizens, who wants to champion dividends of democracy in society.

Resultantly, findings have it that some of the party candidates for the upcoming election in a continuous power battle among themselves intimidate party delegates with money. This, therefore, suggests the possible implications of the tussle among those who own the moneybags and the visionary Expectant Governors of the state of Anambra state in the November 6 poll.

It is at this point pertinent to reintegrate Ndi Anambra state with the negative implications of monetization of the upcoming governorship election in the state. It must be reiterated that money does not start ideas, It’s the idea that grows money according to experts in business and commercialization.
The idea-oriented Expectant Governors of the state should not be pushed back to the background as a result of money politics.
Ndi Anambra state must wake up from slumber and decide who would take the state’s affairs to the next level of mega-developments.

Meanwhile, all eye is on the final list of the party candidates for the November 6 governorship election in Anambra state as it is yet to be released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Thus, Ndi Anambra state still have enough time to make the right decision for the good of all.
