Nigerian Police Uncovers Fake Currency Operation in Abuja, Recovers Whopping Amounts

The National Cybercrime Center of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF-NCCC) has successfully dismantled a counterfeit currency ring, securing the arrest of an individual involved in cybercrime and seizing counterfeit currency totaling $100,000.

Following actionable intelligence, the NPF-NCCC’s operatives targeted a cybercrime den in Garki II, FCT, capturing Muhammed Zenabdin while his accomplices managed to flee. A thorough search of the premises led to the discovery of $100,000 in fake hundred-dollar bills, alongside advanced counterfeiting tools, various international passports, several mobile phones, and a high-end vehicle.

Zenabdin has since confessed to his crimes, providing crucial information that could help nab the remaining members of his network. Once the investigation wraps up, the culprits will be prosecuted.

IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD, at the helm of the NPF, lauded the NCCC team under CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry for their relentless pursuit of cybercriminals. He reassured the public of their safety and issued a stark warning to those engaged in cybercrime: reform or face the full force of the law.
