Leader of CJTF killed as mines planted by Boko Haram explodes in Borno

Leader of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Borno State, Ibrahim Maliya Saidu has been killed by an explosion which was reportedly triggered by mines planted by Boko Haram insurgents.

The incident which occurred at Maliya village, Mandaragarau ward in Biu Local Government Area of Borno, also left 5 others injured.

Maliya Saidu was the planning secretary of CJTF in Biu, before the incident which claimed his life.

Top CJTF member, Mohammed Aliyu, who confirmed Maliya’s death, described him as a brave member who battled insurgents on several occasions.

He said; “We received the sad news this afternoon, that one of our finest CJTF members died during an operation. it was a rude shock to everyone. May the soul of departed rest in peace.

“Rest in peace, my brother Ibrahim Maliya Saidu Maliya, alongside other friends of ours, including Docta Suleiman Sykami, who also stepped on explosive devices planted by suspected Boko Haram fighters.”
