Suspected gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the Parish Priest of Amofia AGU Parish in Affa, Reverend Fr. Nwaora Okide.
The incident occurred yesterday along the Eke_Egede_Affa_Apakwume_Nze road of Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Consequently, tensions grow in the entire L.G.A. and its environs as the cases of kidnapping remain unabated despite several security biffs ups on air.
Recall that a gang of suspected kidnappers Friday struck on the Enugu-Ugwuogo road leading to Opi-Nsukka and whisked away no less than 14 passengers.
The incident which occurred on the weekend has remained one of the most horrible kidnapping incidents along the same axes in recent months.
The victims were said to be traveling in a fully loaded bus from Enugu to Obollo-Afor late evening when the abductors struck.
The occupants of the bus, including the driver, were said to have been kidnapped by the hoodlums, except two lucky ladies who hid under the vehicle.
A driver who plies the route, but pleaded anonymity, confirmed that the two ladies hid under the bus while the other passengers were marched into the bush by the gunmen.
“It is dangerous plying the #Ugwuogo_Opi_Nsukka road in the late evening in the night. One of our drivers was kidnapped on Friday together with his passengers. They were all kidnapped except two lucky ladies who hid under the bus.
“They were able to escape because it was raining and it was also late in the evening. Nobody has heard anything from the abductors till now.
“We are afraid. That road is now a death trap, it is not safe at all”, A Driver said.
