DETAILS: IPOB’s Leader, Kanu Drags AGF, Malami Back To Court, Tenders Striking Charge

The leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has again sued the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami SAN, for libel.

This is happening barely a week that the Federal High Court (FHC), Abuja, struck out N20 billion suit earlier filed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, against the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, SAN.

This was disclosed on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor.

According to a letter that Barrister Ejimakor directed to the AGF, Abubakar Malami, the legal action against him draws credence to the claim, Malami made against the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, which stated that he jumped bail.

In view of the foregoing by the claimant, the current charge against the AGF is based on libelous utterances published in National dailies citing one of the publications in Vanguard Newspaper on the 22nd of October, 2022 where despite the judgment of the Court at Umuahia which exonerated Mazi Kanu, the AGF went ahead to state that he jumped bail.

The fresh charge also claims that the AGF, Abubakar Malami was motivated by malice and wickedness to intimidate and undermine the reputation of the leader of IPOB, while portraying himself as an innocent person in the lethal military invasion of Kanu’s home which subsequently was condemned by the court of competent jurisdiction that Malami was the losing party.

Kanu, however, seeks but is not limited to the following: general and exemplary damages of the sum of twenty billion nairas (N20, 000,000,000.00), an unreserved personal letter of apology to be prominently and boldly published full-page in two Nigerian Newspapers of National circulation, namely; Guardian Newspaper and Sun Newspaper.

“Yesterday, I served on AGF Malami a Legal Notice (as required by law), notifying him of my intention to take legal action against him for his defamatory & libelous statements that #MNK had jumped bail.” Barrister Aloy Ejimakor said.

Details are contained in the document of the letter attached below:
