Charges Slammed On Mason Greenwood As Man Utd Reacts

Man United Address Greenwood's Charges Again

Following Mason Greenwood’s arrest on suspicion of attempted rape and assault on Saturday, Manchester United has issued a statement.

Naija News earlier reported that the 21-year-old was reportedly arrested on suspicion of violating his bail conditions. Along with assault, the England international is accused of using coercive and controlling behaviour on his girlfriend. In a statement released on the club’s website, it reads: “Manchester United notes that criminal charges have been brought against Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service. “He remains suspended by the club, pending the outcome of the judicial process.” Also reacting, the spokesman of the North West’s Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, Janet Potter, said: “Specialist rape prosecutors from CPS North West’s complex casework unit authorized the charges following a review of a file of evidence received from Greater Manchester Police.” The winger is scheduled to appear at Salford Magistrate’s Court on Monday, according to reports. Greenwood, who was initially granted bail, has not played for United since January.
