Breaking: INEC Finally Grants Labour Party Access To Inspect Election Materials

The legal team of the Labour Party has reportedly been granted access to inspect the electoral material used in the February 25th, 2023 Presidential election.

This is made known following the ongoing meeting with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.

The meeting with INEC officials which is being held at the Commission’s national headquarters is to start the process of inspection of electoral materials used for the February 25 presidential election.

The head of the legal team, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu, led 60 lawyers and are expected to brief journalist after the meeting.

It will be recalled that days after the court ruling granting access to the Labour Party to inspect the electoral material used in the 25th February general poll, the LP Presidential Campaign Council (LP-PCC) spokesman Dr. Yunusa Tanko raised alarm over the refusal of the electoral umpire to allow the party inspects electoral materials as ordered by the court.

“As we speak INEC has chosen to obey the court order given to it to reconfirm. sure the BVAS machine, which they doing right now and ignoring the order granted to us to inspect electoral materials,” he said in the statement dated March 10, 2023.

The Labour Party has, therefore, threatened to instruct party supporters to curtail the flagrant disobedience to court orders by INEC

“We, therefore, want to state that we will not fail to call our supporters to march to INEC offices nationwide in a non-violent protest which is allowed by law. This is to curtail the flagrant disobedience to court orders by INEC.”

Details later.
