Another Tragic Road Accident Claims One, Injures Others in Delta

A yet-to-be identified pedestrian’s life was tragically cut short following a collision with a vehicle belonging to Jacob Abai, the Publisher/CEO of GbaramatuVoice International. The accident occurred around 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 21, amidst unforeseen circumstances.

Jacob Abai, in a conscientious act, reported to the Agbarho Police Station to recount the incident. He detailed that a sudden appearance of a pedestrian on the road during his drive left him with little time to react. Despite his best efforts to swerve and evade the collision, the impact was inevitable.

Abai recounted his journey to Asaba for a meeting, which was interrupted by road blockades from protesters in Ozoro, leading to his decision to return. It was on his way back that the accident occurred. Following the collision, Abai searched for the pedestrian but to no avail. He then proceeded to report the incident to the Ebrumede Police Station, and was directed to the Agbarho Police Station for further action.

Upon his report, the police promptly investigated the scene, discovering and confirming the pedestrian’s death. The body was then taken to the mortuary as part of the procedural response to such incidents.

The Delta State Police Command, through spokesperson Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and stated that Abai was taken into custody for further questioning as part of the investigation process. Abai expressed his devastation over the incident and extended his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, emphasizing his commitment to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
