*2023: What Nigerian Youth Must Do To Send The Aged Politicians Packing–HON UCHE OKONKWO*

Politics in Nigeria subsists and is played and enjoyed by those who understand the nitty-gritty of the game.

Assessing the position of the young people in Nigeran Politics indicates that the youth are the veritable tools in the hands of the aged politicians who are used to engaging them before and during electioneering campaigns, but abandon the youth when they get to power.

Regrettably, the few young people who are seemingly lucky to have been in government, are usually playing the scripts of their political bosses, to the detriment of the general public.

Little wonder, it would amount to false hope, yanking the young Nigerians on the cliche that the youth are the leaders of tomorrow in this country when they are not actively engaged in the electioneering processes.

The assertion mentioned above draws credence to the theoretical Not-Too-Young To Run, in the nation’s polity.

The question is what is expected of the youth to do to be the leaders of today?

In an interview with a foremost aspirant for the House of Representatives, Idemili North & South Federal Constituency, under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, *Hon Uchenna Harris Okonkwo,* opined that the youth must unite in their decision to take over the leadership of the country from the aged politicians.

*Hon Uche Okonkwo* who affirmed that favouritism and nepotism are major divisive tools being used against the young politicians called on the Nigerian youth to shun tribalism and any other factors that constitute hate and political jingoism among the youth.

He further maintained that certain steps must be made by the young people who wish to engage in politics, such as understanding the rules of the game ‘ of politics, considering the appropriate political party to join, forming alliances with the right groups for endorsement and sponsorships, embracing the media for promotional roles, as well as associating with the experienced and successful leaders for the mentoring program.

“2023 is a time for the youth to join hands and make the positive change that they clamour for, a reality”.
