There was a fresh breath of atmospheric downpours of joy and rhapsodic celebration of a new nation birthed in exile, amid a lot of questions about Simon Ekpa’s led faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra and the faction overseen by the IPOB’s Directorate of State DOS, begging for answers. Some commentators have continued to query the genuineness of the activities of the duo, Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic in Exile and the DOS about the circumstances surrounding the continuous detention of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Recall that the IPOB’s leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has upon what was described as extrajudicial rendition been kept in solitary confinement under the custody of the Department of State Service DSS since 2021 despite the various rulings of different courts of competent jurisdiction in his favour. Although December 15th, 2023 which is D-Day mapped by the Supreme Court to determine the final fate of Mazi Kanu, is fast approaching, the Biafra Republic on Exile has been inaugurated by Mazi Simon Ekpa, declaring himself the Prime Minister.
The ‘Prime Minister’ of Biafra Republic in Exile, Mr. Simon Ekpa has vowed to proceed with the activities of the already-declared nation saying that no one can stop his government from functioning effectively.
Ekpa stated this during the first-ever Biafra referendum held in Helsinki, Finland.
Declaring himself as the Prime Minister of Biafra Republic in Exile, Simon Ekpa said that history has been made through the resolute and unalloyed support of the people who gave their hundred percent votes for the freedom of Biafra. He further declared that the Finland Convention/Charter would thereafter be known as the Biafra Helsinki Declaration, 2023.
His words: “We have made history today by the power conferred on me as the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic in Exile. After you have voted for the open gate for Biafra’s freedom, which is a 100 percent vote, this Charter has become a law and it shall be called the Biafra Helsinki Declaration 2023.”
