Problems For Those Who Failed To Link Their SIM.

In a recent media chat, the minister of communication, Is a Pantami has reiterated that the stance of the Federal Government of Nigeria on non compliance in the NIN registration by citizens will keep them at risk a of 14 years jail term.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Strategy, Isa Pantami made this known during a press briefing at the State House on Thursday, April 1.

De Erudite Communications gathered that Hon Pantami had also in the media chat disclosed that as of March 31, 2021, 51 million Nigerians have registered for their NIN.

His words, “There are 189 million registered subscriber identification module (SIM) cards in the country”.

He noted that of this figure, only 150 million people have completed their SIM registrations while others have issues of improper registration.

The Minister warned that those yet to obtain their NIN number risk 7 to 14 years imprisonment as stipulated by the country’s constitution.

He stressed that owning a SIM card is optional but NIN is mandatory.
