It’s no longer news that the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra(IPOB), a pro-Biafran separatist organisation, has been re-arrested by the Nigerian Government.

However, what is still sketchy about the arrest and the drama happening so far is the fact that the federal government has not come out openly to clearly state how the arrest was made and where the arrest was made. They only stated that he has been re-arrested with help of international help and tacitly hinted the UK could be involved. The Federal Government has however arraigned him yesterday (Tuesday, June 29) to continue in his defence of the existing charges of treason and other charges laid against him in 2017.

However, the IPOB Youth Parliament, the youth wing of the separatist group has come out to state that their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested in the United Kingdom and extradited to Nigeria as Nigerians have been led to believe.

In their statement published on their social media page, they stated thus;

“Just some facts – Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested by the Interpol or extradited from the UK as the Nigeria Government claimed. You cannot extradite anyone without a court order, and extradition doesn’t happen within one or two days, it takes time. Also, don’t forget that courts don’t sit on Sundays.

“His Excellency Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was illegally abducted in a country in Africa which will be revealed later and smuggled into Nigeria.

“One thing for sure is that Nigeria can do nothing to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and that referendum we demand for #BiafraExit, we must get!

“Like a hot potato, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will burn their lips”.

This new twist to the story of the IPOB’s leader’s arrest has gotten most Nigerians confused as no one seem to know which version of the story is the truth. However, Nigerians are eagerly waiting for the stories to unfold bit by bit.
