Popular Nigerian gospel singer Morenikeji Adeleke, also known as Egbin Orun, is dead.

Her colleague, Esther Igbekele, shared the sad news of Morenikeji’s passing in an Instagram post last Saturday night.

While details about the cause of her death remain unclear, the impact she left on those around her is indelible. Igbekele’s tribute reflects the profound connection they shared, emphasizing Morenikeji’s beautiful spirit and unwavering support for her fellow artists. “Prophetess Morenikeji Egbin Orun, you left without saying goodbye,” Igbekele wrote, marking the suddenness of her departure.

Last speaking a week before her passing, neither knew it would be their final conversation. Igbekele remembers her as “a beautiful and kind-hearted woman,” whose contributions to the gospel scene were as heartfelt as they were transformative.

The loss has deeply affected Igbekele and the wider gospel community, who must now grapple with the void left by Morenikeji’s absence. “Your good deeds will continue to linger in our hearts,” Igbekele expressed, a sentiment surely echoed by many.
