NYSC certificate is not required to contest in election – Court.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has declared that NYSC discharge certificate is not a sine qua non to qualify to contest in any election.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo, delivering a judgement on the case of the former finance minister, Kemi Adeosun, who was, in 2018, accused of NYSC certificate forgery, on Wednesday stated that anyone doesn’t need NYSC discharge certificate to qualify for an electoral contest or appointment into ministerial position.

Recall that the former Minister Of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, in 2018, was reported by Daily Times to have forged the NYSC discharge certificate which he presented upon being appointment a minister. This, however, sparked off a heated controversy which precipitated the Minister’s resignation.

In a bid to seek redress, she filed a suit at the Federal High Court. In the ruling today, the Judge affirmed that she (Kemi) was above 30 when she returned to Nigeria and was not eligible for NYSC.
