Nigerians reject Saka as English fans push for his exit out of the English national team.

Bukayo Saka has received myriads of racial abuses following his miss from the spot in the 2021 Euro final, against Italy.

The Arsenal forward saw his penalty saved by the Italy’s goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, which gifted Italy the European Championship title.

The abuses which started from making pejorative reference to his origin and skin color, has taken another dimension, as the fans asked him not to play for them again. “Go back to Nigeria and don’t play for us again”, they said.

Saka was born in Ealing, west London to Nigerian parents. His parents were of Yoruba tribe in Nigeria, but migrated to London as economic migrants.

He started playing for Arsenal Fc at the age of 14 and was given a professional contract by the club at 17. On November 29, 2018, he made his professional debut at the club in their Europa league match against Vorskla Poltava.

Due to his brilliance in the last EPL campaign, he was called upon to represent the country of his birth; England in the 2021 Euro.

Following the recent racial outburst, many Nigerians have also stated their unwillingness to accept him into the national team. They cited Saka’s choice of playing for England at the first place as the reason for their rejection.
