Nigerian Army Set to Release Over 200 Boko Haram Detainees in Borno

The Nigerian Army has announced its plans to release more than 200 individuals previously detained on suspicion of involvement with the Boko Haram insurgency.

These individuals have been cleared of any wrongdoing related to the terrorist group and are set to be reintegrated into society.

The release and handover to the Borno State Government will occur at the Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. This event is scheduled for Tuesday morning, marking a crucial step in the efforts to rehabilitate and reintegrate those wrongfully accused.These detainees were arrested during intense military operations against Boko Haram, a designated terrorist organization known for its violent insurgency in Nigeria. Their release follows a thorough clearance by security operatives, ensuring that they have no links to the terrorist activities of the sect.

The Borno State Government, represented by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Zuwaira Gambo, and the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof Tar Umar, will receive the cleared individuals.
