NDLEA Cracks Down on International Drug Syndicate in Lagos Port

In an organized operation that displays the relentless efforts against international drug trafficking, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled a well-organized criminal network.

This operation led to the seizure of two containers at the Tincan seaport in Lagos, loaded with an alarming 1,044kg of cocaine and synthetic cannabis, known as ‘Colorado,’ alongside a firearm and ammunition, all imported from Durban, South Africa.

The NDLEA’s intensive investigation has resulted in the arrest of key figures involved in this smuggling operation. Among those apprehended are Falowo Samuel Kayode, responsible for the clearing and notification of the containers; dock workers Anjorin Idowu and Uzairu Ahmed Iguda, the latter being a senior operative at the Five Star terminal. Another accomplice, Mohammed Muktar Sule, known as “organizer,” is still being pursued.

This crackdown followed actionable intelligence that prompted a thorough examination of the containers, revealing not just narcotics but also illegal armaments. Further investigations led to the discovery of additional illicit substances hidden within the port, culminating in a total seizure of 56.39kg of cocaine and 987.9kg of Colorado.

The NDLEA’s probe has also unveiled three masterminds based in South Africa, identified as Odeyemi Taiwo Emmanuel, Akinyemi Olayinka, and Adebayo Adewole Emmanuel, now prominently featured on the agency’s wanted list.
