Momentum As The Anambra Transition Committee Seeks To Get Soludo Ready To Govern.

Not even the prolonged sit- at-home order and its accompanying security challenges could stop the unified Anambra Transition Committee members who the Governor – Elect remarked are paying to serve, from attending the inaugural meeting of the Committee. The diverse aggregation of talents and experiences are poised to get the incoming government nimble-footed to begin working for its employer – the Anambra people – by enabling her know the true state of affairs of the state, in addition to recommending actionable programmes and projects in line with its manifesto and campaign promises.

Membership of the Committee cuts across the South-East states and political cleavages as sound ideas and superlative implementations have no political party badge or state of origin.

Soludo, who stormed the inauguration venue in his familiar Akwete dress code, underpinned the importance of transforming Anambra into a smart Megacity on the premise that a greater percentage of Ndi- Anambra have become economic refugees. He stressed that their hosts will never respect them until they have a liveable and prosperous homeland where they can return to if persecuted anywhere in the world. He envisions an Anambra where the world can happily come to live, learn, work, invest and enjoy. Of course, the building block is a sound education system whose outputs are productive at home and exportable abroad. Therefore, children born in Anambra will have no lure to seek greener pastures elsewhere and those born outside will have massive incentives to return to the liveable and prosperous homeland.

The Committee, led by Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, who Soludo aptly described as “Anambra’s finest gift to the world”, is shooting from all cylinders to ensure that it meets its huge mandate within the short time available to get the assignment done. Ezekwesili, a former World Bank top brass and adviser to African Presidents is in a familiar turf. She and the ebullient Secretary to the State Government of Anambra, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu and their resourcefully dynamic Secretariat are working round the clock providing guidance and direction to the members who have started work in earnest in their various task teams.

The good news is that the passion and enthusiasm among the Committee members to support the fruitful journey to a liveable and prosperous smart Anambra is momentous, palpable and infectious. And as the Chairperson patriotically remarked, Anambra has the best fighting chance to win big with this Committee and the incoming Government.

Be of good cheer!
