Jubilations in Nnobi as Philanthropist, Ezeonu Donates Helmets, Jackets to Over 500 Motorcycle Riders

Responding to the call of the current administration’s “think home philosophy,” Chief Ezeonu has donated over 500 safety helmets and reflective jackets to the local riders, with the aim of safeguarding their lives and promoting a safer environment in Nnobi.

The donation ceremony was graced by notable figures including the traditional ruler of Nnobi, Igwe Nick Obi, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Council Area, Mrs. Amaka Obi, and Mr. Johnchris Chigbo, the Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Security.

Chief Ezeonu, speaking on his motivation for the donation, emphasized the critical need for motorcycle riders to always wear safety helmets to reduce the risk of fatalities in road accidents. He highlighted the importance of community and individual efforts in complementing government initiatives to foster development and safety.

Mrs. Obi, while commending Chief Ezeonu’s contributions to Nnobi, including infrastructure development and hospital renovations, pointed out that the reflective jackets would aid in identifying legitimate riders, thus enhancing security and reducing social vices.

Dr. Mrs. Thelma Ezeonu, the philanthropist’s wife, reflected on the devastating impact of accidents on families and society, noting that the inability of some riders to afford helmets was a key reason behind their generous donation. The event also featured advice from Mr. Patrick Esumai, the State Coordinator of FRSC Special Marshals, who emphasized the significance of the donated items in promoting safe riding practices and curbing undesirable elements within the rider community.

Comrade Obinna Izuegbunam, Chairman of Ifite-Egbeaduji village, and Mr. James Agbo, representing the Nnobi Motorcycle Riders, both expressed profound gratitude to Chief Ezeonu for his unwavering support and commitment to community development.
