Jubilation as President Tinubu Orders Return of Seized Food Items to Nigerian Markets

President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) aimed at bolstering food availability within the country.

This announcement was made by the Customs Chief, Adewale Adeniyi, during a meeting with residents of border areas at the Kongolam and Mai’Adua border stations in Katsina.

The instruction mandates the return of food items previously confiscated at various border communities to their original owners, with the stipulation that these goods are to be sold exclusively within Nigerian markets.

Adeniyi relayed that President Tinubu’s decision stems not from legal compulsion but from his profound desire to act generously towards the citizens of Nigeria.

Adeniyi detailed the President’s directive, stating, “Food items intended for export but seized at border areas are to be handed back to the proprietors, on the condition that these items will be distributed and sold within Nigerian markets.
“We will oversee compliance with this mandate, ensuring the goods are reintroduced into the domestic market as intended,” he explained.
