As waves of agitations championed by certain groups seeking to secede from Nigeria, including the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kunu, the Oduduwa Republic Now ODN, under the auspices of Sunday Igboho among others gather momenta, uncertainties with regards to security of lives and properties especially in the old Eastern part of Nigeria have forced concerned citizens into a state of insomnia.

The above have resulted in the arrest and extraordinarily detention of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kunu, as well as Sunday Igboho who is still under the custody of the Government of Benin republic.

Meanwhile, in a bid to secure the unconditional release of the IPOB leader and further revitalize the movement since after his abrupt arrest and detention, the leadership of the group through its Directorate of States DOS, Mazi Chika Edoziem had issued a sit-At-Home order for the people of the region at home and in diaspora.

This perpetual Sit-At-Home demonstration in the South East region of Nigeria had upon the time of its assumption, exacerbated the ugly situation of the people by facilitating the crumbling economic growth in the states across the region.

Consequent upon the development, governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state has said that the governors of the Southeast region can not help channeling the grievances of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in order to secure the release of its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kunu.

He made this known on a clip of his address over the weekend.

Governor Umahi averred that the IPOB leadership should first disband the Eastern Security Network ESN, and allow the security agencies of the states and Nigeria do justice to the growing security challenges keeping the region in the state of perpetual unrest.

Recall that governor Umahi had in the week declared that Ebonyi state people are not part of the Biafra agitation, a statement that allegedly provoked mixed reactions in the region.

Meanwhile Umahi, who is also the chairman of the Governors from the South East states of Nigeria, acknowledged the various distress calls from the people asking their intervention in Mazi Nnamdi Kunu’s case, but expressed displeasures with the alleged positions of the IPOB which according to him, negates the political powers the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the Governors of the region.

He further assured the people of sustainable peace in the region, even as he charged them to assist the security operatives with information that would enable them fish out those perpetrating the heinous crimes against the people.

“We know these people and their families. We know the various forests where these people hide. So, the general public are hereby charged to assist the security personnel with valid information on the ways about of these criminals”.

“The governors of the states in the South East region have been receiving a series of distress calls, asking us to intervene and secure the release of our brother Nnamdi Kunu”.

” The truth is that we can not release Nnamdi Kunu when the IPOB has not disbanded the illegal security outfit, the ESN, to enable our security do their jobs effectively”.

“They should acknowledge the position of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the South East Governors and the grievances of the people would be presented at the centre”.
