Igbo National Council (INC) elects Prof. Umeadi as national chairman, convoke summit ahead of Anambra Nov. guber election.

The Igbo ethnic group, which is one of the three major ethnic groups that make up Nigeria has on Saturday, 29th of May, 2021 convoked a general assembly of opinion leaders from all works of life and members and leaders of the Igbo National Council and in that occasion elected Prof. Peter Umeadi as the national chairman of Igbo National Council (INC).

The INC is prided by the group to be the vanguard grassroot-based-membership of the Igbo race and Igbo Nation. It’s adjudged to be the leadership core for the Igbo emancipation and represents the developmental demands of the Igbo productive forces committed to the re-engineering of Igbo value system, economy and political culture and structure. The INC was established in 2012 with the goal of achieving cohesion and pan-Igbo mindset amongst the Igbo nationalities in Nigeria and diaspora.

Meanwhile, the INC in the same summit held at Travelers Hotels, Okpoko Onitsha, Anambra State on the 29th of May, 2021 deliberated on issues that addresses the challenges faced in governance in the state and to perfect measures to ensure a free, fair, safe and credible governorship election in the state on November 6th, 2021.

Recall that Prof. Umeadi has recently declared his interest in contesting for the presidency in the forth coming 2023 general elections. This declaration has however been generating mixed reactions from across the nation, with many groups especially in the eastern part of Nigeria endorsing the professor and declaring their support for him.
