In a recent twist going round on social media currently, It has been alleged that Ahmed Gulak was murdered by Hope Uzodinma. It should be recalled that Gulak installed Uzodinma as the Governor of Imo State through the widely condemn flawed APC gubernatorial primaries in Imo. Uzodinma is alleged to have agreed to pay ten billion Naira (N10bn) to Gulak for the hack job. However, problems started between the two when since after Uzodinma ascended the seat of power in Douglas House Owerri, he had been avoiding Gulak, the story alleged.
As time went, the efforts to collect the dirty money reached a crisis point which made it necessary that Gulak had to undertake his final journey to Owerri to sort out the difference. Upon arrival, Uzodinma lodged Gulak in Protea Hotel Owerri, the same hotel from where he was alleged to have rigged the Imo APC Gubernatorial primaries in favour of Uzodinma.
Uzodinma obviously could not meet his financial commitment to Gulak. Thus when all efforts to make Uzodinma pay his debt to Gulak failed, Gulak threatened to go public. At this point, Uzodinma persuaded Gulak to give him more time, stressing that the circumstances of unrest in Imo State should be put into consideration. Frustrated Gulak had no other option than to return to Abuja. Uzodinma had to arrange for a cab to drop off Gulak at Imo Airport without any security details. It was on the way to the airport that gunmen alleged to have been hired by Uzodinma wasted Gulak the sources which claims to be an insider in Imo government circle alleges.
Recall that a popular investigative journalist Dr. Kemi Olunloyo has earlier stated via his twitter handle @KemiOlunloyo that Gulak was leaving Owerri with a huge sum of money before he was killed, and that the money is no where to be found. He further exonerated the separatist IPOB group from the killing as was initially alleged by the police few hours after the news of the assassination of Gulak broke out.
