Governor Aiyedatiwa Reacts as Rainstorm Claims Resident, Destroys Over 200 Houses in Ondo State

A heavy rainstorm in Ita-Ogbolu, Ondo State, has claimed the life of one resident and damaged over 200 houses.

The storm, which occurred following the first rain of the year in the community, caused widespread devastation.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed shock at the extent of the damage and extended his sympathies to the family of the deceased woman.

Daily Trust, during his visit to the affected area, the governor, accompanied by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, also conveyed his condolences to the palace of the Ogbolu of Ita-Ogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode, and the affected subjects.

“We thank God that it was not more than that. May God give the family of the woman who lost her life the fortitude to bear the loss. I have to come since I heard about the incident,” Governor Aiyedatiwa said.

He assured the community that the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) was assessing the damage and would provide necessary assistance to the victims.
Aiyedatiwa emphasized the government’s readiness to address emergencies and promised prompt action upon receiving detailed reports from SEMA.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also highlighted the importance of preventive measures and encouraged residents to plant more trees to mitigate the impact of future disasters.
He expressed gratitude to the community and its traditional ruler for their peaceful coexistence.
