Details Of Court’s Ruling Over Security Agencies’ Violation Of Rights.

Earlier today, the Awka Federal High court delivered a judgement on Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s suit against Nigerian security personnel.

Barr. Ejiofor had earlier approached the court demanding justice for the violation of his individual rights by the security agents.

In the judgement, the court found the security agents guilty of violating the fundamental right of the plaintiff and consequently awarded the sum of N50 million in his favor as compensation for the violation. The sum of N2 million was also awarded as the cost of the action.

Recall that on December 2nd, 2019, Barr. Ejiofor’s ancestral home in Oraifite, Anambra state, was invaded by a team of security agents comprising the Nigerian Army, Police and others. Four person were killed during that invasion and all the houses within the compound were set ablaze.

Commenting on the judgement, Barr. Ejiofor, through his Facebook account, thanked God for the justice even though it was delayed, and also prayed for the souls of the people killed during the attack.

He also assured of his commitment to pursue justice for the those killed during the invasion, noting that there must be reparation on for that.
