BREAKING: Nigerian Army Troops Invades Bayelsa Community Burn Houses, 11 Residents K!lled

Troops of the Nigerian Army on Monday morning invaded Igbomotoru community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, razing houses and allegedly killing about 11 people.

The alleged target of this military action was the hideouts of a militant leader implicated in recent attacks on military personnel engaged in a rescue mission in Delta State. However, the consequences of the operation have reverberated far beyond its intended targets, engulfing the entire community in fear and mourning.

Community leader Ayibakipreye Solomon Clarkson Suobo has issued an urgent appeal to national leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, seeking immediate intervention. Through a heartfelt SOS alert shared with the media, Suobo underscored the desperation and vulnerability of the Igbomotoru residents, caught in a situation far removed from the conflict that prompted the military’s retaliation.

Highlighting the grave disparity between the community’s peaceful nature and the military’s aggressive response, Suobo called for a reevaluation of the tactics employed in addressing security challenges. He lamented the loss of innocent lives and the destruction of property, advocating for a more humane and strategic approach that distinguishes between combatants and civilians.
