Breaking: Nigeria to get new name after constitutional review. See why.

The House of Representatives’ special committee on constitution review has received a proposal to alter Nigeria’s name to The United African Republic.

The proposal was submitted by a tax consultant, Adeleye Jokotoye to the committee at the South West Zonal Public Hearing, on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. While submitting the proposal, he stated that the name ‘Nigeria’ was given by the colonial Masters and should be changed.

He stated his reason for choosing the name to be due to the heterogeneous nature of the country.

Since the news of this proposal broke on the internet, Nigerians all over the world has been reacting massively about it, with most people being supportive of the name change, though some with different views as to what the new name should be.
