Wike Donates N300m To Lagos State Officials Wives

I Was Not Vindictive Against Ex-Governor Omehia - Wike

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has offered a sum of N300 million to the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO).

The governor announced the donation on Tuesday at the 22nd National Women’s Conference (NWC) with the theme; “Spring Forth, Stand Out,’ held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos Island. He stated that his reason for making such a huge donation was to commend and support the involvement of women in politics and decision-making in Lagos State. He insisted that the state is doing well because of the contribution of women to the state’s political environment. He said he was amazed at all that COWLSO is doing in Lagos state and promised to replicate all that he had learnt from the conference in his state as well. The donation is coming amidst the recent flood that has submerged some communities in the State, rendering thousands homeless, and without food. Recall that over 200 communities in four local councils of Rivers State, namely – Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni (ONELGA), Ahoada West, Ahoada East and Abual Odual – have been displaced by ravaging flood. Wike had announced the sum of N1bn to tackle the flood and make relief materials available to victims of the flood situation in Rivers State. Wike also used the opportunity to declare total support for the re-election bid of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the 2023 general elections.
