The meeting is coming days after Atiku met with Governor Wike in Abuja to seek his support ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

There were claims that the former vice president promised to support the presidential ambition of Wike in 2027.

The speculation has led to disquite in the party, with Southerners expressing their grievances over Atiku’s alleged decision.

Bola Tinubu Appoints Wamakko, Masari As Senior Advisers

2023: Dele Alake Speaks On Tinubu's Certificate, Identity Controversy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has appointed Governor Aminu Masari of Kastina State as Campaign Senior Adviser on Administration and Government.

Naija News reports that Tinubu, a former two-term Lagos State governor, also appointed the former governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Wamakko, as Senior Adviser for Special Duties.

The appointment of the duo was made known in a letter on Sunday signed by the APC presidential candidate.

According to Tinubu, Masari and Wamakko’s impressive political achievement and exemplary leadership in their states and party members qualified them for the responsibility.

The letter read: “By way of this letter we are pleased to formally convey your appointment as the Special Adviser on Administration and Government of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

“This appointment is fitting and appropriate given your impressive political achievement and the exemplary leadership you have demonstrated as governor of your state and as a party member.

2023: Tinubu, Other APC Candidates May Be Disqualified From Participating In Election

2023: Tinubu, Other APC Candidates May Be Disqualified From Participating In Election

There are fears that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu may be disqualified from participating in the 2023 elections.

Not only Tinubu, but it is also understood that other candidates of the party including the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Abiodun Oyebanji may be affected.

The fear stems from the Friday ruling by Justice Emeka Nwite of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja which nullified the nomination of Governor Isiaka Oyetola and his running mate, Benedict Alabi, as APC candidates for the 2022 Osun State governorship election.

Naija News recalls their candidature was nullified on the ground that Governor Mai Mala Buni who submitted their names to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) violated the provisions of Section 183 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Section 82(3) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had filed the suit against Governor Buni, Governor Oyetola and others.

The provisions of Section 183 read in part: “The Governor, shall not, during the period he holds office, hold any other executive office or paid employment in any capacity whatsoever.”

Based on this, some political observers are of the opinion that all actions of Buni while in office as the APC caretaker National Chairman may be invalidated.

Some of the actions include the signing of the nomination of Ekiti governor-elect Abiodun Oyebanji, as APC candidate for the June 18, 2022 poll in the state, and the conduct of the party’s elective national convention which produced the current NWC.

The development may also lead to the disqualification of all APC candidates for the 2023 poll who emerged from the primaries conducted by the Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee heralded by the Buni leadership of the party.

Should the court order lead to the invalidation of the actions of the NWC due to the involvement of Buni, then all candidates produced and other actions would be deemed null and void.

But the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Barrister Felix Morka ruled out any such happening, stating that the judgement of the high court does not hold water.

He told Sunday Tribune that the party is very confident the Court of Appeal will set aside the ruling of the lower court on the matter.

He said: ”The judgment of the Court is unsupportable. We are confident that the Court of Appeal will upturn the judgment.

“It isn’t supportable by fact of law. What the Governor Buni Caretaker did was ratified by Convention, which is the highest organ of the Party. The Court didn’t avert itself to the fact of the matter.

“So, there is nothing to worry about. That decision will be challenged and we are confident that the Court of Appeal will upturn it.”

EPL: Wolves Cut Ties With Bruno Lage After Four Defeat

EPL: Wolves cut ties with Bruno Lage

After 16 months in charge, Wolves have made a decision to part ways with Bruno Lage following Saturday’s loss to West Ham United which dropped the club into the bottom three.

The Portuguese manager who became the third manager to succeed Nuno Espirito Santo last summer led Wolves to a 10th-placed finish in his first season in charge.

However, in their last 15 Premier League games under the former Benfica Manager, Wolves have won only one and lost nine.

The club shared the announcement on its social media pages, thanking Bruno and his coaching staff for their work while they were employed by the club and wishing them the best of luck in the future.

“Wolves have parted company with head coach Bruno Lage. We would like to thank Bruno and his coaching team for their efforts during their time at the club and wish them the very best for the future.” the club tweeted.

According to the BBC, Wolves Chairman Jeff Shi said that Lage’s poor play left him with no choice but to make the painful decision to fire him.

“Bruno is an excellent coach, a hardworking and dedicated manager, and a warm, wise and honest man,” said the chairman.

“He and his staff have been a pleasure to work with throughout their time at Wolves, so it is with much sadness that we have had to make what has been a difficult decision.

“I honestly have no doubts about Bruno’s ability and I’m sure he will succeed elsewhere, however the team’s form and performances over the last few months mean that we have no choice but to act,” he said.

Wolves third Premier League manager, Terry Connor will tentatively replace the Portuguese and lead the team to Stamford bridge next Saturday.

2023: Nigeria’s Challenges Are Temporary – Mimiko

Mimiko

Former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Rahman Mimiko, said confidently in a statement issued over the weekend that Nigeria can surmount its current challenges.

Mimiko through his Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communications, John Paul Akinduro, said it only requires the determination of the citizens for Nigeria to once again become the great country it used to be.

According to him, though Nigeria has lost prominence amongst its counterparts, it will again become great if everyone decided to act right.

The former governor urged Nigerians to be strong in their prayers and unwavering in their convictions as the 2023 general elections draw near.

Mimiko said: “As the 2023 elections draw nigh, it is time for all to walk the talk and work assiduously for equity, justice and fairness in all our dealings with one another as citizens.

“Let me restate that Nigeria’s challenges are temporary and will be surmounted if Nigerians are determined to rework its charter of association and pursue justice and fairness in choosing those who will steer the ship of the country.

“We must never forget as we race towards another election year that the country is structurally defective and that we must factor the need to, as a matter of urgency, restructure to make it easier for us to develop by creating healthy competition among the federating units.”

While praying for brighter times for the country, he charged all levels of government to prioritize, among other things, the security of every Nigerian no matter where they live or work.

Pastor Adeboye: Nigeria Is At War, Let’s Not Deceive Ourselves

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christain Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Sunday prayed for Nigeria as the country marked its 62nd Independence.

Adeboye while delivering a sermon at the national headquarters of the church, said the country is at war, hence Nigerians should not deceive themselves.

The renowned cleric who spoke on the topic ‘PEACE IN THE LAND’, asked the congregation, Christians all over the country to pray for Nigerian leaders, those in public offices and traditional rulers.

Speaking on the challenges faced in Nigeria, Adeboye noted that as many times the country’s power generating set (The National Grid) has collapsed, there was always light in the Aso Rock Villa.

The gospeller went on to lament the growing insecurity in Nigeria, recalling how a state governor narrowly escape assassination by bandit terrorists.

“If we are talking about security, governors should have it. But someone who is surrounded by security guards could not go to his farm freely”, Adeboye noted.

Strike: Ngige Leaves Meeting After Heated Argument With ASUU President During Negotiation (Video)

There was an angry moment of argument between the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige and the President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke during a negotiation meeting facilitated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Naija News reports that all stakeholders were properly represented at the meeting summoned as part of efforts to find a solution to the lingering ASUU strike which has kept the students of Nigeria’s public universities at home since February 14.

The various stakeholders including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha made various submissions on how to resolve the lingering crisis.

The SGF asked to be represented at subsequent meetings by a presidential aide, Dr. Habiba Lawal.

Other stakeholders that made presentations at the meeting included the Director-General of the Budget Office, Ben Akabueze, the Accountant-General of the Federation, OkolieAboh Sylva, and the Director Infrastructure of the (National Information Technology Development Agency) NITDA, Abdullahi Usman who all opposed the use of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) being proposed as a payment platform by ASUU as against the (Integrated Payroll and Personnel information system) IPPIS.

The Storm

However, in the cause of the meeting, Ngige accused the ASUU president of saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) government had kept children at home and that the Nigerian people should vote them out.

The accusation by the Minister was however refuted by the ASUU camp and some others at the meeting.

The accusation also infuriated the ASUU leadership and led to a rowdy session in which Ngige was called a liar who is fond of misinforming the public by Prof. Osodeke.

The Minister however walked out of the meeting even as both of them continued exchanging heated words.

He said, “Police arrived at the scene but the mob had fled. The investigation has commenced.”

The police mouthpiece berated the incident, stating that the force is worried about how to put a stop to the archaic and criminal practice.

Hundeyin said jungle justice was a criminal case in Nigeria, calling on members of the public to stop the crime. He said rather, they should hand over the suspect to the police for prosecution.

In his narration, the spokesperson commended reporters for doing a fantastic job in reporting the arrest of criminals in Lagos state.

He, however, urged judiciary correspondents to do more, to update Nigerians on the progress of prosecution of criminal cases in various courts in Lagos.

Disquiet In PDP Over Atiku’s Presidency Pledge To Wike

PDP Crisis: Atiku, Wike Holds Fresh Meeting As Campaign Begins - [See Details]

The alleged offer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2027 presidential ticket to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike by the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar has led to disquiet in the party.

There are speculations that Atiku during his meeting with Wike on Thursday in Abuja promised to hand over to Wike in 2027.

Reports had it that Atiku had promised to support Wike’s ambition as a means of gaining his support in the 2023 general elections.

Sources that spoke about the meeting stated that Governor Wike was more concerned about changes in the leadership of the party.

According to the source, the decision of Atiku to support Wike’s ambition in 2027 has angered some chieftains of the party, especially in the southern part of the country.

A former national vice chairman of the party who spoke with the Nation on condition of anonymity said, “This is not the time to start talking about who will succeed Atiku. It is a distraction that is worse than whatever Wike and his people have been doing before.”

He further stated that it is not the duty of Atiku to decide which party of the south will take over power at the end of his administration.

The PDP leader noted that the promise to Wike if it is true is capable of demoralising our supporters in some parts of the country.

A group in the party identified PDP Volunteers Forum said it is not right for Atiku to open concede the succession to Wike, even though it is good that he offer to do just one term as president.

The convener of the group, Gerald Arikawe and Secretary, Ilemobade Oke in a statement said, “If not properly managed, the resultant anger from other zones of the southern region will harm our chances in the presidential election.”

A source in Governor Wike’s camp disclosed that the Rivers State Governor have been warned not to take Atiku’s word seriously.

They believe Atiku might be buying time with the offer in his desperation to secure Wike’s support in 2023.

The source said, “It is true that Atiku came to beg Wike again. He wanted Wike to urge his group to join the PDP campaign train. He threw up the card of supporting Wike in 2027.

“By this, Atiku is agreeing to do only one term if elected and leave the office for Wike to succeed him. The same Atiku who has several times denied promising to do a single term of four years in office before now? Why the sudden change of mind? Is he not the same man who promised that Ndigbo would produce his successor?

“He has also been assuring the Southwest of the same thing. We have told Wike to beware of Atiku and his Greek gift. We are very sure this is a ploy to get our support and renege on all the promises after the presidential election.”

IPOB: Nnamdi Kanu Did Not Give The Sit-at-home Order

Just In: Lawyer Discloses Nnamdi Kanu's Latest Medical Condition

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has said that the leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu, did not order Southeasterners to sit-at-home on 4th day of October, 2022

IPOB stated this via a statement issued yesterday.

Ejiofor urged members of the public to go about their normal activities and ignore the said directive.

Ejiofor went on to dismiss speculations that Kanu will appear at Federal High Court Umuahia, Abia State, next Tuesday when a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed on his behalf is scheduled to be held.

This is as the group stated that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar was not capable of stopping the IPOB movement.

This declaration is in response to a statement credited to Atiku claiming he would stop Biafra agitation if he becomes Nigerian President.

The group warned the Waziri against mentioning it’s name in any campaign in the Southeast.

Ejiofor said: “Let the members of the general public be properly informed and appropriately guided, that we have the firm instruction of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to inform the public, lovers of freedom and UmuChineke, that Onyendu will not be coming to court on the 4th day of October, 2022.

“As such, Onyendu neither directed, approved nor authorised anyone to declare a sit-at-home on that date.

“Members of the general public are advised to go about their normal business activities on this said date.

“This clarification has become compelling and necessary, in view of the avalanche of misleading information on the social media, and plethora of calls I have received from concerned UmuChineke to this effect.

“It is to be noted too, that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has several suits pending against the Federal Government of Nigeria, her agencies and officials, in various courts across the Country.”
