Breaking: Dr. Godwin Maduka Holds Press Conference, Officially Declares his intention To Run For Anambra State Governorship Election Under Accord Party.

In the battle for who will come out victorious in the November 6th governorship election for Anambra state, many political heavyweights have come out to contest for the number one position.

However, a lot of political drama and dynamics has been playing out with many of the contestants who believe their initial parties short-changed them in the scheme of things or were rigged out in the primaries has taken succour in other parties who welcomed them and gave them their tickets for the gubernatorial election.

In the light of this scenario, one of the foremost Gladiators in the Agu Awka race, Dr. Godwin Maduka recently called a press conference, an occasion in which he officially publicly declared his interest in running for the governorship under the Accord Party banner.

While fielding questions from the press after the declaration, he answered the question of how ready he is in inculcating women in his administration to ensure they are well represented, by stating that even in his business, women are dominant amongst his staff populace.

His words; “in my business in the USA, women are about 91% population amongst the staff. On becoming the governor, there might be more women in my government, but there would be men and women. I’m only interested in working with those who have the interest of the state and the capacity to help the state grow”.

He went further to state that his new party, Accord Party, is a party of peace and unity with no rancour and in-fighting.

He also reiterated how he has in the past 10 years helped and assisted a lot of Anambra politicians to achieve respective positions and offices. In his words, “for more than 10years, I have been able to help most of the governors and even contributed to their campaigns, I have been able to assist and help different politicians seeking for office, yes, if you call it godfather, I have been that for many politicians in Anambra.”

When he was asked about the first three things he would want to focus on if he becomes the governor, he said he will first and foremost fight hunger by making sure that Anambra becomes a self-reliant and food sufficient state, because according to him “the Igbos says, ‘he who has food in his stomach is who will live’. He proceeded to say that he will as well make security utmost in his area of concentration as there would be no development in an insecure state. He went further to state that employment vis a vis job creation is another area he will put his attention on because when people are gainfully engaged, they won’t have time for crime and it will also help in resource distribution and higher standard of living amongst the people of the state. This he hopes to achieve by ensuring an industrial boom in the state by way of favourable policy formulations, provision of support to local and indigenous companies and also by providing means, platforms and resources for business start-ups as well as small and medium enterprises.

He also stated that education will be given the attention it deserved as education is known to be the key to a secured future for the coming generation. Sport will also be given its due attention in his administration according to him, as that provides both entertainment, jobs, fitness and happiness to the citizens.
