Update: Angry Mob Lynched Soldier To Death For Killing 7 Civilians in Maiduguri (Photos)

Recently, information trickled in about Civilian vs Soldier altercations in Barka Da Zuwa area of Maiduguri Borno state. The story went as thus; A Nigerian soldier was lynched to death by angry mob for killing 5 civilians at Barka da Zuwa which is a well known hideout for criminals along Baga road in Maiduguri.

According to reports, an eyewitness identified as Musa who said the incident happened around 8. 30pm on Saturday when the soldier shot at people and ordered them to leave the place.

Musa said he saw the soldier walk straight to where his girlfriend was seated and opened fire in between her legs then ordered that everybody should leave the place while firing three shot simultaneously.

The bullets he fired killed two persons instantly and he fired more and killed two additional persons. He then fired some shots into the air as he attempted to escape but the boys around trailed and stabbed him in the back before disarming and slaying him with knife, Musa added. Witnesses at the scene disclosed that the dead bodies were taken away by the military and relations of the victims but they couldn’ t account for others who sustained various degrees of injuries during the shooting.

The military police evacuated the body of the slain soldier while the Igbo people evacuated the body of the Igbo boy identified as Azuka who was killed by a stray bullet. The Igbo boy was in his shop selling when the bullet him.

According to Luka, a shop owner at Barka da Zuwa who said that those who sustained injuries are many and nobody can tell you how many people got injured because when the police from Ibrahim Taiwo came for raid, many people ran for safety.

The Police Public Relations Officer of Borno State Police Command and the spokesman of Division 7 of the Nigerian Army are yet to confirm the incident at the time of filling this report as efforts to reach them proved abortive.
