The protesters also urged the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to put in place an interim government before he leaves office on May 29.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed the current unrest.
The protesters comprised mainly tricycle and motorcycle operators who were angered by the commercial banks’ refusal to accept the old 200, 500, and 1000 naira notes.
Their presence prompted the youths to block the state’s highway and burn tires obstructing the free flow of traffic on the ever-busy road.
