PHOTOS: NDLEA Bust Drug Camps In Lagos, Others; Nabs Suspected Drug Traffickers

In a week marked by heightened activities, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant strides in its fight against drug trafficking in Nigeria.

Noteworthy operations were carried out in Lagos, Kano, and Ogun states, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of illicit drugs and the arrest of several suspects.

At the Lagos airport, NDLEA officials arrested a suspected drug mule, Imran Taofeek Olalekan, who was en route to Oman. A meticulous examination of Olalekan’s luggage revealed a concealed compartment containing drugs.

The agency also arrested Ishola Isiaka Olalekan, who had escorted the suspect to the airport and was identified as the recruiter in the operation. Both individuals were found in possession of charms, believed to have been acquired to evade detection.

The NDLEA’s vigilance was also on display at the Tincan Seaport in Lagos, where operatives intercepted a container from Canada containing 2,144 parcels of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 1,072kg. The drugs were ingeniously concealed in vehicles and household items loaded into the container, showcasing the lengths to which traffickers will go to smuggle drugs into the country.

Further north in Kano, the NDLEA rearrested Gidado Sani, a suspect who had previously jumped bail. Sani was found with 85 blocks of cannabis weighing 50.1kg. Meanwhile, in Ogun State, another operation led to the arrest of Wasiu Jimoh with 84 parcels of cannabis sativa.

Underpinning these law enforcement activities, the NDLEA has ramped up its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy campaigns, targeting schools, markets, motor parks, worship centers, and communities across Nigeria
