Panic as Unknown Gunmen Storms UNICAL Hostel, Kidnaps Students

The University of Calabar has been thrown into chaos and untold panic following the abduction of three medical students by unknown assailants.

This alarming incident unfolded on a quiet Thursday night within the confines of the university’s hostel, marking a stark breach of safety within an educational institution in Cross River State, located in the South-South region of Nigeria.

The victims of this heinous act include Ojang Precious Ebejin, a dedicated 200-level student pursuing Medicine and Surgery; Ugwu Chukwuemeka, a 300-level student with a focus on Genetics and Biotechnology; and Damilola Dickson, who is in the final year of the same program. The trio’s disappearance has cast a shadow of fear and uncertainty over the campus, igniting concerns about the security measures in place to protect students.

In response to this crisis, the Cross River State Police Command, under the spokespersonship of SP Irene Ugbo, has confirmed the incident and assured the public of their commitment to rescuing the kidnapped students. SP Ugbo emphasized that a rigorous search operation is underway, involving not only the police but also other security agencies. This collaborative effort aims to track down the perpetrators and secure the safe return of the students.
