Gov Soludo Hits Hard On Awka Monarch

The Anambra state governor, HE, Prof Charles Soludo has banned the factional traditional ruler of Awka, His Imperial Majesty, Igwe Austin Ndigwe from parading himself as the traditional monarch of Awka Kingdom.

In a letter signed by state’s commissioner of information, Paul Nwosu, the governor emphatically stated that the only recognized traditional ruler of Awka is His Royal Highness, Igwe Gibson Nwosu, Eze uzu II, and warned severely that the government does not recognize the legitimacy of Igwe Austin Ndigwe, citing that the recognition of the former had not been withdrawn.

He was however warned to stop parading and portraying himself as the traditional ruler of Awka, adding that such action amounts to violation of law.

Earlier today, reports say the palace of the embattled traditional ruler was sealed off by joint security personnel who were said to be acting from “order from above.” The sealing stalled the New Yam Festival which was billed to be held in the premises today.

It was also said that some dignitaries from all parts of the country, including the traditional rulers of different kingdoms and political figures where in the premises before the action took place.

DeErudite media gathered that the traditional stool of Awka Kingdom gas been a subject of altercation for a few years now with both monarchs sharing the loyalty of Awka indigenes and locals.
