FFK blasts Presidency, declares its stand as absurd. Says activities of herders are unconstitutional.
Since the recent ban of open grazing by the Southern Governors Forum (SGF), many Nigerians and organizations has been reacting and commenting on the move by the 17 southern governors.
In the light of this development, the federal government through her spokesman, Garba Shehu has questioned the constitutional and legal backing under which the southern governors would proclaim such ban. The presidential spokesman went further to state that every citizen of Nigeria has the right to move and stay anywhere he or she likes within Nigeria and to propagate his or her lawful businesses, nomadic herding inclusive. He went ahead to state that the actions of the southern governors amounts to a “show of power”.
However, reacting to the statement and stand of the presidency on the matter, the vociferous and controversial former minister of aviation, Femi-Fani Kayode has condemned the position of the presidency on the matter and called the activities of the herders unconditional. He went further to reintegrate how the activities of the herders has devastated the southern zones and in some cases led to death of citizens of the zone.
The statement reads, “The Presidency’s position on open grazing is absurd. No-one has the right to bring his cows into my land to eat my crops and destroy my harvest in the name of freedom of movement.
“Your freedom of movement, inclination to bestiality and unnatural love and affection for cows and donkeys does not give you the right to enter my land, come into my home, rape my wife, kill my children, steal my substance and treasure, take over my space, occupy my land and take from me all that is dear to me including my loved ones, family, ancestral lands and life.
He went further reiterate thus, “The Constitution does not give anyone that right and neither should our Government be supporting or encouraging the activities of murderous and barbaric terrorists who do nothing but steal, kill and destroy.”
